Scientific Conference Biotechnology and Food 2003 (BF2003) will be held in
the great Hall of the Ministry of Economics, Zagreb, Vukovar St. 78. The
Conference will include Plenary Lectures, Minisymposia with Poster
presentations, and social events. The topics of the Conference:
Biotechnology and Food with emphasis in communication and discussions.

The Organizers will welcome the reports on new
basic or applied findings concerning biotechnology and all possible aspects
of its implementation in food production. There are no limitations on areas
of interest or fields involved with preference on:

- Biotechnology and Food Quality, |
| |
- New Approaches in Food Processes, |
| |
- Regulation of Novel Foods and Processes |
| |
- Microbes and Food - Process Development |

Please adhere to the entire submission rules and
abstract format. Notices regarding the acceptance of abstracts and program
assignments will be sent by December 20, 2002.

Abstracts should be submitted in electronic form, online. Please refer to
the submission information below for specific instructions.

The Conference is limited on
320 participants and registration will be conducted on
first-come-first-serve basis

The abstract must contain original results not submitted for
publication elsewhere prior to the deadline of this Conference.
-
A membership of Croatian Society of Biotechnology is not a
prerequisite for abstract submission.
-
One person may be the first
author on only one abstract and can have only one presentation at the
meeting; however, an author's name may appear on more than one abstract.
-
The first author is
supposed to present the paper. The chairman of the Program Committee must
approve any exception. It is understood that each author agreed with the
information contained in the abstract.
-
Abstracts in English should
contain the following: (a) statement of specific objectives unless given
by the title, (b) brief statement of methods, if important, (c) summary of
results (d) conclusions. Please avoid phrases such as "will be discussed"
or "will be presented".

The presenting
author must certify that conditions for submission have been satisfied and
that all ethical as well as animal and human welfare considerations have
been met. For submissions, the author must click a certification button
before an abstract is submitted succesfully. Each author will receive
approval for the abstract 48 hours after submission.

Submission of an abstract constitutes an
agreement that the presenting author will attend the meeting if the
abstract is accepted. Formats for Abstracts submitted:

Title:
Do not center; use upper- and lowercase letters; end title with a period.
¨
Authors:
Start a new line; use upper- and lowercase letters; include department
name, institution, city, state; end with a period. Use upperscript numbers
to identify each author with his or her institution. Do not include street
addresses or zip or postal codes.
¨
Abstract:
Start a new line. The abstract must not exceed 2000 characters (including
title, authors, and affiliations) as determined by the character count
feature of your word processor.
¨
Abbreviations:
Spell out all abbreviations in full at the first mention in the text, with
abbreviations following in parentheses, e.g. bovine Growth Hormone (bGH).
¨
Tables, figures and charts
are not permitted in the abstract.

For students from Croatia there will be limited number of grants for
Conference participation, which will be granted upon request.

the full papers presented during the Conference will be peer reviewed and
published as Current Studies
of Biotechnology, volume III – Food, within seven months after the
Conference.

Peer reviewed papers presented on the Conference
will be published in Current Studies of Biotechnology,
Vol. III -Food. Series Current Studies of Biotechnology is referred in
CA and in the following ISI publications:
